These two small lochs lie to the north and east of Sletill. Parking at the same place as for Sletill the first loch, na Cloiche is about 30 minutes walk away although as the route takes you past Sletill it appears shorter. Ealach Mor is a further 10 minutes to the west with the return route via the western end of Sletill. These are classic flow lochs with not a tree in sight and appearing relatively featureless. These are good lochs to take in during a tour of lochs – they can be fished in a circular tour which includes Sletill, Talaheel and the slightly more distant loch here, Ealach Beag.
Both lochs are rammed full of small trout. Fly selection is not the problem on these lochs and 2 or 3 fish together are not uncommon! They are ideal lochs for the developing beginner as it is bank fishing only here and the walk out will develop other skills as well as fishing. There are some excellent fish in these lochs as one of 4 ¼ pounds taken from na Cloiche in 2000 proves. It is getting through the huge stock of smaller fish to reach these hill monsters that is the real challenge!
Neither loch is fished at all regularly so give them a go, you just never know what you might find when you get there!
